The 22nd Annual TDC
Typeface Design Competition
BRIEF
designed for a class assignment in 2018
All student entries are entered in the student category and will be judged by the Typeface Design judges, side-by-side with the professional entries. In addition to being included as winners in the TDC competition’s world-traveling show, the TDC’s website, and The World’s Best Typography annual publication, judges will select a Student First Prize. This top honor comes with a cash prize of $1000 (US). Please note: Students are welcome to enter either personal or paid work (work NOT created for a class assignment) into the professional category of the Communication Design Competition or the 22nd Annual Typeface Design Competition. Please see the corresponding RULES section for a complete list of competition guidelines.

AWARDS
Only winners will be notified the week of February 4, 2019 by email.
Certificates
Entries selected by the jury will receive Certificates of Typographic Excellence. They will be exhibited in the 65th TDC Exhibition and appear in Typography 40. The opening of TDC65 will be held in New York City and will be on display during the summer of 2019. Winners will be asked to supply digital files of the winning entries for use in Typography 40.

For just $15 more for each entry ($20 for superfamilies), TDC will print your electronic PDF competition entry for the competition. PDFs must be submitted through the TDC Web site entry form.
Family Entry Category Notes
For purposes of determining entry and publication and hanging fees, individual dingbat, symbol, and pi or ornament fonts are treated as equivalent to Single Entries.
