Our Story
A futuristic past.
Mars City Design was born from the vision of Vera Mulyani, who always dreamt of becoming an architect of Mars. Founded in Silicon Beach in Los Angeles, California, Mars City Design® has become the action step to realizing not just the exploration of Mars, but making Mars the second home for humans.
Mulyani explains, “It is not enough to just travel to Mars and survive, now we must develop a way in which we can sustainably live and love on Mars. It is essential that we call on a new generation of thinkers and innovators to make this a reality.”

September – October 2018: Registration, Opening of the Competition 2019. Regular fee apply.
POWERLAB, joining Mars City Design Finalists 2018 Workshop in Bremen, Germany.
December 2018 – January 2019: Late Registration. Late fee apply.
January 31st, 2019: Conceptual Stage Phase 1 Submission Deadline.
March 2019 Semi-Final Selection Announcement.
March – April 2019 Phase 2, Development of the concept submitted.
April 30th, 2019 Phase 2 Development Submission Deadline.
May 2019 EXHIBITION AT NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston.
PowerLab Workshop in Houston, in collaboration with the University of Houston.
Final Selection Announcement at Mars City Design Gala.
October 2019 Selected Top 3 Winners can join the Mars City Design® Exhibition at the London Design Museum.
