BRIEF

#MATERIA18
Created and organized by “Officine AD”, it is the event’s third edition. It will take place between September 20th and 23rd 2018 in a few prestigious locations in Catanzaro, the main city of the Italian Region of Calabria. The purpose of the event is to focus on “contemporary contamination” meant to promote independent design and the culture of projecting, with the aim of creating a network to map the world craftsmanship, design and production, starting an exploitation process of the products and the territory.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
The projects will be inherent to the event’s topic, “PASTmeetsFUTURE”, and fall within one of the following explanatory categories: product design, interior design, fashion design (fashion and accessories), decoration, food design eco design, sound & video design, game design, contamination among the previous categories. The selection is open to young designers, crafters and new brands. Projects selected will be prototypes, finished products and self-handling. The call is exclusively for under 40.

EXHIBITION SPACE
Only designers that will be finally selected, upon specific communication, will have to pay the amount of 200,00 euros to cover the basic exhibition costs, including:
products’ displays; press ”office & web/social promotion, coordinated with printed media; general & personal signage in location; expert advice for set-ups of individual spaces; cleaning; electricity usage; participation to the activity. The exhibition allows every participant to have large visibility through the 4 days, also online (website: www.materiafestival.com; dedicated account on social networks) and on the press (trade magazines, promotion ads, press releases & partners). The selected participants will be notified within June 22nd 2018 via e-mail. In the notice they will receive details about the payment of the entrance fee and the terms of projects’ delivery for the proper Exhibition’s organization.

AWARDS

The committee will consist of qualified representatives of the Design world and will assign to the winner a prize of Research Grant entitled to the entrepreneur GUGLIELMO PAPALEO, with the partnership of the Guglielmo Spa Company, worth 1000,00 euros. Moreover, 2 technical mentions entitled to Achille Castiglioni will be awarded. The prize winning projects will have the opportunity to be exhibited at special fares (TBD) in a specific space dedicated to “MATERIA” inside the Milan Design Week ’19.
